| Selection of Board Members |
The selections of Board Members for the National Industry Liaison Group (NILG) Board are defined in Article IV Membership in the NILG By-Laws, which states as follows:
Election of Members. The criteria for election to the NILG Board are as follows:
- The membership of the NILG shall consist of four representatives per Region, as duly elected by the applicable Region through an election process established by the NILG Board and uniformly administered throughout the ILG Regions.
- Board Members shall represent the entire Region. Therefore, membership should reflect the overall characteristics of the ILG membership within the particular Region.
- The election process shall begin with a communication from the designated
NILG Board member(s) to the Chairs of the ILG groups within their Region,
soliciting candidates for nomination to the Board.
- The designated NILG Board member(s) shall be responsible for coordinating
the election process for their Region, through a regional website, ILG Chair
e-mail list, or other vehicle designed to facilitate the broadest dissemination of
information necessary to ensure selection of the best-qualified candidates.
- The designated NILG Board member will inform all ILG Chairs within their Region of the Board vacancy. The designated Board member will request that the Chair communicate with their ILG membership and request that qualified candidates submit a standard nominating form and a current biography to the designated Board member.
- Upon receipt of the nominations and biographies from the Region, the
designated NILG Board member shall disseminate a candidate package to all
ILG Chairs within the Region who will be responsible for voting on behalf of
their ILG members. Each ILG shall have one vote. In the event of a tie, the
designated NILG Board member shall cast the deciding vote.
- In the event the elected Member is unable to complete his or her term of office, the Region will hold an interim election following the same election process delineated above.
